Super Bowl 50: Predicting The Greatest Matchup Ever

2015 marks the 50th year the Super Bowl has blessed the world of football. It only seems right that this matchup should be one of the greatest of all time. This Super Bowl could break a ton of records between the halftime show and the game itself. The NFL will pull out all the stops it can to make sure that Super Bowl 50 is the greatest game ever.

When it comes down to it, what teams would make the Super Bowl the most memorable? The Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, or even the Denver Broncos would all be viable candidates. However, I believe the greatest possible matchup would be the third Super Bowl meeting between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots.

Call me crazy, but if everything falls into place this could be very possible. Since 2007, every time the Giants play the Patriots in the regular season they end up playing them in the Super Bowl. The Giants played the Patriots in the regular season both in 2007 and 2011. The Giants made two magical playoff runs those same years. While this is all theory and maybe a bit of coincidence, it seems pretty possible at this point in time.

Apparently, Las Vegas is on the Giants side as well, giving them a giving them 30/1 odds to win the Super Bowl. 30/1 may not seem that probable, but it is when the Steelers, Arizona Cardinals and Baltimore Ravens have the same odds as you. All of those teams played significant roles in 2014. To compare the same 6-10 Giants to the Steelers and Ravens sounds a little crazy, but you can make a valid argument.

If this were to happen, the football world would virtually explode. This is arguably one of the greatest rivalries of all time and it could happen once again. Not only is a title on the line but Eli Manning’s undefeated record is as well. He is 2-0 in the Super Bowl and is the only quarterback to manage to beat Tom Brady in the grandest stage of them all. Manning would but himself a one way ticket to Canton if he manages to squeeze out a third Super Bowl as well. So much is riding on this one potential game. The countdown starts now.
