I did not enjoy the idea of Thursday Night football games, even before they instituted it as mandatory for every team to play once a year. Now that Hakeem Nicks is not playing in this game because he did not receive enough rest during the week, I am nauseated by these games. If this game was Sunday, more than likely, Nicks would be playing. And there is a severe difference between Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden, who actually caught a pass against the Buccaneers.
The other Giants who will not be dressing are Ahmad Bradshaw, David Diehl, and Domenik Hixon (what else is new?). Both Diehl and Bradshaw’s replacements played very well last week, but now the Carolina Panthers will be preparing for those back ups so it will be interesting to see if they will continue to play with success.
Cam Newton has been a dynamic player since coming into the league last year and Steve Smith has had big games against New York in the past. I would expect Newton and Smith to make several plays against this sloppy Giants defense. Hopefully New York will be able to prevent the Panthers from reaching the endzone on some of those drives.
The Carolina defense on the other hand is not that good either. The Giants will be able to move the ball on them, but they have struggled in the redzone, as usual. Perhaps Brown will be able to move the pile near the goalline. This game will come down to two things. Can the Giants create a pass rush for the first time this season and will they be able to convert redzone attempts into touchdowns. If they can be successful on those two fronts they will have a great chance to win this game. However, I believe that the Panthers will be a little too much to handle on this night. Carolina 26 New York 17.
