It was a rough banner raising night for the New York Giants on the NFL odds, as they lost to their divisional rival, the Cowboys. Dallas came in and won the game 24-17, as the Giants couldn’t get their talented offense going against the Dallas secondary. The Giants have an extended break before facing the Bucs at home, so let’s take a look at the game this past Wednesday, and see what the G-Men need to do differently to get their first win.
I have to give credit to the Cowboys first. Dallas played well against Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. That being said, the Giants could have played better too.
Cruz dropped at least three catches, most of which were rather easy catches to make. He just dropped the ball. While none of those were game changing plays, there was no scoring by either team in the 1st quarter, and one more catch by Cruz might have put some points on the board in the 1st quarter.
Eli Manning played well, but didn’t play great. He completed 21-32 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown. Most of the Giants played well. Ahmad Bradshaw had a solid game, and even though he had some drops, Cruz had 6 receptions for 58 yards.
The Cowboys simply outplayed the Giants, and the Super Bowl hangover might have been in affect. Tampa Bay has a much weaker defense and offense, so next week should be an easy win. However, if the Giants play like they did this past Wednesday, the Bucs will be able to stay in the game.
